Flourishing Friendships

Fostering Individual Wellbeing & Development

Shared Outdoor Spaces

We are very fortunate that our centre is conveniently located just a 2 minute stroll from our local beach, which has naturally become an extension of our own backyard. This shared outdoor space is a bonus for all tamariki to engage in all sorts of enriched learning experiences. Our teachers at Little Coasties are passionate about visiting the beach for regular excursions with the children. You will often see us down there carefully investigating rock pools, caring for our environment by picking up rubbish or collecting natural resources for our centre.

Sustainability

We introduce sustainable habits and practices to our children by encouraging them to reduce, reuse and recycle. We also keep worm farms and grow our own veges in our very own Centre garden.

Using Storypark significantly reduces the amount of paper used for forms and newsletters.

We use local suppliers and partners where possible, supporting the sustainability of businesses in our community.

We believe every little bit helps to ensure sustainability for our precious future generations!

Connecting with Nature

The natural world is a giant, open-ended learning laboratory. Children are innate scientists and love to experience the sights, scents, sounds, and textures of the outdoors.

Whether it’s growing vegetables, creating a masterpiece with dirt, twigs and sand, watch worms wriggle through the soil, gazing at clouds, jumping in puddles, listening to birds sing, smelling fresh-cut grass and collecting seeds – any outdoor learning experience is always a positive one.

We are proud to offer all of the above opportunities through our very own natural outdoor environment right here at our centre. Some key benefits to spending time outside include: Increasing involvement in physical activity, enhancing cognitive abilities, creativity and imaginative play. It also supports problem solving, improves self confidence, promotes advanced motor development including fitness, co-ordination and agility.
